What meanings you would love to associate with the baby?
- Since the last character of my son's name 丞 is for a high post imperial general (Cheng Xiang), I thought of linking my baby girl's name as an imperial concubine 妃. However I checked out some books and this 妃 character's five element is water(水), which seems to clash with the surname and 2nd character: 赖(火)彦(土).
赖彦如 seems to be a better combination (火土金) but this name is not as meaningful as 赖彦妃.
As I'm not familiar with the 5 elements, need your expertise to advise which is a better choice for my baby gal.
Both parents' date of birth & name: 赖逸阳 Lai Yiyang (DOB not published); 温淑贤 Wen Shuxian (DOB not published)
Country of origin: Singapore

There are few ways to identify what element the Chinese character has.
One, using the pronunciation sound of the character.
Two, by judging what characters and symbols that made up the overall character. Also the meaning of the character.
Third method, where people count the strokes.
You can see the
case study on Chinese baby name and how I derived the elements.
Notice that the characters themselves are not assigned any element.
Also, choose the characters that are suitable for the babies and parents' zodiac. This is done by looking at the symbols that made up the overall character.
I am not sure what method the books have given you. It looks simplistic and not like the one I have shown in my case studies. They are a little more complex than just looking at the three characters.
A few characters that are suitable for your baby girl to be born in the year of Tiger are:
姵, 玲, 珍, 婧, 梅, 珺.
Just my opinion, please don't take to heart. 妃 Concubine is like a second grade wife after the Empress or Queen. Dictionary.com does not give a favourable definition for concubine. Please look it up and reconsider giving this name for your child.
A name sticks with a person for life. Think about whether the child will grow up being proud with the name, or not.
If you are in doubt on which is best, always go for the one that sounds right and nice to your ears. And most importantly, having good meanings.
