Heart Sutra (Prajna-Paramita-Hrdaya Sutra)
般若波羅蜜多心經
The Heart Sutra, known in Sanskrit as Prajñāpāramitā Hṛdaya. It is a very well known Buddhist sutra. Its Sanskrit name is literally translated as "Heart of the Perfection of Transcendent Wisdom."
Unknown to many, it is a very useful sutra. Here, I would like to introduce how to use this sutra to pregnant mothers. Of course anyone can practice it too. It is actually a form of great meditation.
Before I introduce the practice, let me share with you the effect it has on me. I started to feel peaceful in the heart after 30 days of practicing it. For example, once my car was broken in outside my house. When I saw it in the morning, I really did not feel any animosity towards the uncivilized act. There was no hatred in the heart. There was only calm and peace.
For pregnant mothers who practice what I will share with you later, you will see your child born to be a smart child. Loved by many around him. This was seen many times including my Sifu's son and my own son.
The Heart Sutra is a Buddhist scripture, and those from other religions may or may not choose to practice it. They can select verses or chapters from their own religion's scriptures. However, I am not sure of the effect it will have on the person or baby. This is because of the meaning and content found in the Heart Sutra.
Heart Sutra For Meditation
The practice is very simple. Every night before sleeping, copy the Heart Sutra on a blank A4 paper. If you do not know how to write Chinese, you may copy the Sanskrit version in romanized version.
For pregnant mothers, please copy this Heart Sutra every day throughout the pregnancy. When you copy this daily, you will find yourself feeling calmer. And this state of mind will be beneficial to your baby in the womb. Some call it entering the alpha brainwave. I believe it is more than that. It really touches the heart and mind of both the mother and baby.
For others, copy the Heart Sutra as a form of deep meditation and thoughts. As a mental exercise for calming our daily stressful lives.

The Translation And Meaning Of
The Heart Of Prajna Paramita Sutra
When Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva was practicing the profound Prajna Paramita, he illuminated the five skhandhas and saw that they are all empty, and he crossed beyond all suffering and difficulty.
Shariputra, form does not differ from emptiness; emptiness does not differ from form. Form itself is emptiness; emptiness itself is form. So, too, are feeling, cognition, formation and consciousness.
Shariputra, all dharmas are empty of characteristics. They are not produced, not destroyed, not defiled, not pure and they neither increase nor diminish.
Therefore, in emptiness there is no form, feeling, cognition, formation or consciousness, no eyes, ears, tongue, body or mind; no sights, sounds, smells, tastes, objects of touch or dharmas, no field of the eyes, up to and including no field of mind-consciousness; and no ignorance or ending of ignorance, up to and including no old age and death or ending of old age and death. There is no suffering, no accumulating, no extinction, no way and no understanding and no attaining. Because nothing is attained, the Bodhisattva, through reliance on Prajna Paramita, is unimpeded in his mind. Because there is no impediment, he is not afraid, and he leaves distorted dream-thinking far behind. Ultimately Nirvana!
All Buddhas of the three periods of time attain Annutarasamyaksambodhi through reliance on Prajna Paramita. Therefore, know that Prajna Paramita is a great spiritual mantra, a great bright mantra, a supreme mantra, an unequalled mantra. It can remove all suffering; it is genuine and not false. That is why the mantra of Prajna Paramita was spoken. Recite it like this:
