by rose jade
(Bacolod City, Philippines)

i want to know my chinese name because im interested.

Ding writes:

Hi Rose Jade,

Let us take a look at how your name is transliterated into Chinese.

For Rose, it is 罗斯 luósī. And Jade is 杰德 jiédé.

Together, the Chinese name will be 罗斯杰德 luósī jiédé. Of course, this is the direct transliterated name. And do not really portray any meaning. Furthermore, it is too long for a Chinese name. Chinese like to call each other with shorter name, usually 2 characters name.

Let's consider a shorter name.

Rose, like the flower, is translated into Chinese as 玫瑰 méigui.

Jade, when translated to Chinese is 玉 yù.

玫瑰玉 Méiguiyù is still too long. The word 玫 méi is already understood by Chinese as the rose flower.

Therefore, 玫瑰玉 Méiguiyù can be shorten to become 玫玉 Méiyù.

This is a nicer Chinese name. Short, simple and retains the actual meaning of your name, Rose Jade.

Hope you like it. It is a very Chinese-like name.
